What is sad though is that a great deal of people are going to go ahead and answer every question and not think twice about it. Way to many people are oblivious that even their government can be abusive.

Michael, having checked this survey on the ONS website, I can confirm that it is an ongoing annual survey. Respondents are selected randomly and the survey is done face to face in your home. It is voluntary and I recall being selected a couple of years ago. I received a notification letter and sent it back with a very large no. Even so, a researcher still turned up on my doorstep some months later and tried to trick me into answering some questions. She was told to go forth and multiply in no uncertain terms!

General Household Survey

Oh dear. Looks like the publishers of the Daily Mail could have grounds for suing this site for libel!
This is what the survey discusses:

* household and family information
* housing tenure and household accommodation
* consumer durables including vehicle ownership
* employment
* education
* health and use of health services
* smoking and drinking
* family information including marriage, cohabitation and fertility
* income
* demographic information about household members including migration.

And of course you don't have to fill it in.

The article from the Daily Mail implies that it is some sort of sordid scheme to invade our privacy, which it clearly is not, and fails to mention most of the point of the survey.

Yep, several thousand gullible souls. Or perhaps they are lonely and quite like the idea of a lady researcher sitting with them for an hour!

Seems they're right then. It is an invasion of privacy!

Oh, and you missed out:

sport and leisure
contraception
hearing

Sorry I just copied and pasted the list from your website.

And no, it's not an invasion of your privacy if it's voluntary, of all the things this government has done this is not a major issue. Do you read the Daily Mail?

Well I disagree. For those who answer the questions, it is an invasion of their privacy.

The questionnaire is clearly designed to take away their guns and will obviously serve no purpose for the people of the country. It's also a vicious attack against American religion and is attempting to show that it's normal to do one's wife in other positions other than the missionary. God forbid it shows that 20% or more of married men do their wives in the bum!!!!!

Satanic!

But they don't have to answer do they? If you ask me if you can ask me some personal questions is that an invasion of my privacy? Anything beyond that is my choice, I can go out in the street and shout facts about myself and if people don't close their ears they're not invading my privacy because I'm giving the information willingly.
