Thumbs up Putin to bring arms contracts worth $3 bln to Libya

Yet another victory for Russia.
As you can see, all enemies of American Empire becoming Russia's friends.....
It's soooooo easy....

15/ 04/ 2008

MOSCOW, April 15 (RIA Novosti) - Russia has prepared arms contracts worth $3 billion for outgoing president Vladimir Putin's visit to Libya this week, a business daily said on Tuesday citing defense and aircraft industry officials.

The Kremlin said on Monday Putin would visit the oil and gas-rich north African state on April 16-17 at the invitation of Libyan leader Muammar Qaddafi, giving no details of the agenda.
Vedomosti said citing a Defense Ministry official that Russia wants to sell 12 of the latest Su-35 Flanker multi-role fighter and Tor-M2E short-range missile systems, and to offer spare parts and maintenance services for Soviet-era military hardware.

The visit to Libya could be Putin's last foreign trip as president after he steps down in May to give way to his protege, Dmitry Medvedev. Putin will stay on as premier.

Default Background On The Dictator

Soviets are really stirring the pot. I think Putin wants another "cold war" style confrontation with the US in order to gain support and unity from his ununifed country. Kadafi is the perfect "Puppet" for that agenda.

This arms deal could also be a hoax:
"Russia's state arms exporter, Rosoboronexport, denied comment on the planned arms deals, the paper said adding Libya's embassy in Moscow had also made no comment."

Quote:
More importantly, Gadhafi has changed because Realpolitik changed him. His ideals and aims did not materialize: there never was any Arab unity, the freedom fighters he supported didn't achieve their goals, and the demise of the Soviet Union left Gadhafi's main symbolic target, the USA, stronger than ever.

2002: Gadhafi publicly apologize for the Lockerbie bombing, and paid out $10 million compensation to each of the 270 victims' families.

Mu'ammar Gadhafi
A grim reminder for Momar Kadafi if he decides to misbehave again. Can you say F-111?

The Soviet mentality still exists in the ranks. Do you deny it?

Russia ununified ??? It is probably the most united state in the developed world. Other than the communists there is no credible or sizeable opposition to the government.

They talk about the failure of socialism but where is the success of capitalism in Africa, Asia and Latin America?

Yes, I deny it.

But you still didn't tell me what did you mean by the Soviets....
The Soviets were during the time of the USSR which seized to exist in 1991. So to call todays Russia's leaders the Soviets is just goofy.

Continue to equip a deadbeat, third rate ally.

The major problem in the relations of Moscow and Tripoli is Libya’s indebtedness to the USSR for military supplies, which amounts to $4,6 bln according to the Finance Ministry. In its turn, the Libyan government brings its counter-claims: in the early 1990s Tripoli made a prepayment for military supplies via Russia’s Vnesheconombank, but the deal fell through because the UN imposed its sanctions on Libya 1992. Tripoli claims that Russia owes Libya $100 mln, whereas Russia’s Finance Ministry insists on $70 mln.The return of munition (rocket system elements, an Ilyushin Il-76 plane and a submarine of the 641 “Badr” project), which was under repair in Russia, but was not given back because of the sanctions, is another bone of contention. According to the sources of Kommersant in Russia’s defence industry, Russia’s Federal Service for Military-Technical Cooperation argues that the machinery is worn out, and its depreciated cost can’t exceed $1 mln. In Tripoli’s estimate, the machinery is worth $500 mln.

Putin to clinch trade deals in Libya

April 17, 2008, 0:30
Vladimir Putin has met Libya’s leader, Muammar Gaddafi, in the capital Tripoli. It's the first visit of a Russian head of state to the oil-rich country. The two sides have already agreed on the amount of debt Libya owes Russia dating back from the Soviet era.

Putin’s visit to Libya is also expected to yield a declaration of friendship and co-operation. Some other documents may also be signed, including commercial agreements.

So you're giving weapons to the country providing the Semtex for the suicide bombers in Iraq, which, by the way, are killing mostly other Iraqis. Smart.

NGoA, would you agree with this saying? "Si vis pacem, para bellum."
