I'm not very knowledgeable on the theory but I do remember reading that Trotsky was the proponent of the continuing revolution. I think he may have envisaged a socialist world, not sure of that though. I find myself blaming Stalin and the Stalnists, but that, I have to admit, may be far too easy.

Oh and just in case anyone cares. Gagarin is still remembered in popular music.

The UK band Prefab Sprout celebrate Gagarin in their song "Weightless" which was on their "Andromeda Heights" CD.

that was a great day! while we are enjoying the fruits of the space programs labors now, it would have been wild to be at the beginning of space, satellites and the opening of communications around the world. this is pretty much what started it
