Arrow Russia demands permanent presence at U.S. missile shield sites

If the radars and anti-ballistic missile interceptors that Washigton plans to build in Central Europe are NOT directed against Russia then the Pentagon should agree with Russia's demands.

However, if US refuses to the constant presence of Russian officers, than it will become clear that the goal of the anti-missile bases in Central Europe is to nullify Russian missiles in case of NATO invasion.

Russia demands permanent presence at U.S. missile shield sites

08/ 04/ 2008

MOSCOW, April 8 (RIA Novosti) - Russia's main demand for the deployment of a U.S. missile shield in Central Europe is "the constant presence of our officers and reliable technical monitoring," the Russian foreign minister said Tuesday.

"It is important for us that we see where this radar looks every second, what is happening at the interceptor base in Poland," Sergei Lavrov told the Moscow-based Ekho Moskvy radio.
The U.S. is planning to modify its X-band radar on the Kwajalein Atoll in the Pacific and relocate it to the Czech Republic as part of its proposed European missile shield, which will also include 10 interceptor missiles in Poland.

The missile defense plans have been fiercely opposed by Russia, which views them as a direct threat to its national security, and have contributed to bringing Washington-Moscow relations to their lowest point since the Cold War.
Lavrov said proposals received by Russia from the U.S., "do not touch upon a constant presence, unlike verbally discussed ideas. They say the officers can be attached to Russian embassies in Poland and the Czech Republic and work at these facilities on a reciprocal basis."

Asked by a journalist why Russia does not consider deploying military bases in Cuba in response to the U.S. missile shield in Central Europe, Lavrov told the radio station: "Our actions should be dictated by pragmatism and a search for answers that won't draw us into a new costly arms race."

Putin is just stating what Lavrov has stated before they state that in any other case, they will have to target countries that will be hosting US ABMs with hundreds of nunclear weapons just like China is targeting Taiwan and that people in those countries will be living in a complete fear and will be restless.

Russia doesn't care about American capabilities. Russia has better capabilities and can deliver plenty of firepower to US. Even Bush said it.

What Russia wants is for those European countries to hear Russian concerns and realize what will happen if US will not allow Russia to have a constant presence of Russian officers at the sites and if those countries will agree to this and will host US ABMs.

Also, not allowing Russia to have an oversight of whats going on, means the ABMs directed towards Russia and US can not be trusted. This means that Russia will have to target US with thousands ICBMs like Topol M and others.

Whatever. It's just Putin farting through his mouth. There will be no Russian oversight. Putin has very little credibility.

Russia needs to attend to its own internal problems, mind its own business and not concern itself with what NATO does.

It is US that needs to mind its own business. Unlike US, Russia does not invade countries.

Russia should understand that it has no influence in this matter. NATO unanimously agreed to this missle system.

Russia should attend to its own problems and mind its own business.

who really gives a crap about NATO? what is NATO? USA??? Europe CERTAINLY does not want to ANGER Russia and that's why they have decided not to accept Georgia and Ukraine into NATO. And believe me, Europe is not going to be hosting the ABMs and here is why - GAS. Russia can turn off the gas and tell europe to go get it elsewhere. Russia does not owe anyone to provide gas. If Russia does not want to sell its gas - it will simply turn it off. And those European idiots will tear apart those ABMs themselves. So, please, if you really believe that US will achieve ANYTHING in this matter - you are simply delusional.

Russia is not meddling with anyone's affairs - Russia is just saying that Russia wants NATO to hear Russia's concerns.

Russia and the whole Eurasia are sick of USA. All USA does is creates destabilizations and annoys people throughout Eurasia with wars and US politics. Russia is certainly sick of it. And what Putin is doing is kicking US out of Eurasia. And, regardless of what you and your daddy Bush wish to happen and try to make it happen, US will be kicked out from Eurasia by Putin. US has no business to come to Eurasia, and cause damage to Eurasian economy while trying to capitalize on it.

Putin is God. Remember that.
