Several reasons. The War and greed aren't the only reasons the price is going up. Were had an oil refinery that had to shut down temporarily (which will cause a price increase), Hugo Chavez stated that he will not sell oil to the US (which will cause a price increase), and OPEC announced that it will produce less oil (cause a price increase). All in all this is causing the burning of less oil, and so less polution.
What are we suppose to do? American's are attacked globally for being against reducing energy consupmtion, and now that we do, you're wondering why we are not protesting? Supply goes down means price goes up and less is used.
