Farmer armies in the killing fields

This is the tale of three South Africans, all worried by the same thing. It won't be on the G8 agenda at Gleneagles this week, and has gone largely unreported. Yet it may hold the key to South Africa's future wellbeing.
Two are farmers - one white and one black. The other is a white policeman who is struggling to keep the peace. All are fearful and angry at the growing threat of a war over land.

The white farmer is Louis Meintjes, who, every year, makes a pilgrimage up the steps of the giant Voortrekker Monument that looms over the verdant valleys near Pretoria. The monument commemorates the Great Trek, and most especially the Battle of Blood River, in which a small number of his Afrikaner ancestors defeated a vastly larger Zulu army in 1838. Mr Meintjes makes his annual visit to renew his own commitment to fight for the land he bought and has worked for the past 25 years. But he and his neighbours are under siege.

The phrase "killing fields" doesn't quite conjure up the rolling hills of the Cradle of Humankind, a Unesco World Heritage site west of Johannesburg.

But beneath the veneer of the tourist buses and Jersey cows are horrifying murder and robbery statistics, which received yet another boost this week.

The area bore witness to its 96th farm attack this year when Belgian national Mattias Noack, 58, who survived another attack on his life last November, was murdered by five attackers at his Lindley, Muldersdrift, home on Thursday night.

Nelspruit - There was a 20% drop in the number of reported farm murders in Mpumalanga in the first six months this year, according to provincial safety and security MEC Dina Pule.
She defined farm attacks as cases where farm residents were murdered, and not cases of robberies or attempted murders.
She said on Thursday there were 63 murders on farms in the province between January and May 2006, compared to 77 murders during the same period in 2005.

Umkhonto we Sizwe (or MK), translated "Spear of the Nation," was the active military wing of the African National Congress in cooperation with the South African Communist Party in their fight against the South African apartheid government. MK launched its first guerrilla attacks against government installations on 16 December 1961. It was subsequently classified as a terrorist organisation by the South African government and media, and banned.

For a time it was headquartered in Rivonia, a suburb of Johannesburg. On 11 July 1963, 19 ANC and MK leaders — including Nelson Mandela, who would be the future South African President — were arrested at Liliesleaf Farm, Rivonia (26°2′36″S 28°3′15″E / -26.04333, 28.05417 (Liliesleaf Farm)). The farm was privately owned by Arthur Goldreich and bought with SACP (South African Communist Party) funds. This was followed by the Rivonia Trial, in which ten leaders of the ANC were tried for 221 acts of sabotage designed to "foment violent revolution". Wilton Mkwayi, chief of MK at the time, escaped during trial.

The MK carried out numerous bombings of military, industrial, civilian and infrastructural sites. The tactics were initially geared solely towards sabotage, but eventually expanded to include urban guerrilla warfare, which included human targets. Notable among these were the 8 January 1982 attack on the Koeberg nuclear power plant near Cape Town, coinciding with the 70th anniversary of the formation of the ANC, the Church Street bombing on 20 May 1983, killing 19, and the 14 June 1986 car-bombing of Magoo's Bar in Durban, in which 3 people were killed and 73 injured. The total number of people killed or injured in the 30 years of MK's campaigns is not known exactly.

The Song is an anthem. We have songs like that, everyone does. Some of our songs imply that killing the Brits is a good thing. BECAUSE WE WERE AT WAR. Just because we are no longer at war doesn't mean that we forget the song.

If you click the information for the video, the group that put the video on youtube is a pro-white rights group seeking to advance the white agenda.

You have yet to show that it's anything more than a mere song. AND you've got to stop using wikipedia as a reference. Anyone can edit that to make it say what they want. It has ZERO credibility.

The U.S. national anthem at no point praises the act of killing. It highlights the courage of standing strong while under siege.
Ring around the rosey is sang as a children's song out of ignorance. Nor does it praise the act of killing.
"Dixie" makes no praise of the killing of Yankees. It too highlights the courage of standing strong.

debateman, you can say whatever you want, but the fact remains the same - they sing that they HAVE PLEDGED OURSELVES... TO KILL THE WHITES...

Mugabe orders white farmers to leave



Zimbabwean President Robert Mugabe has given a stern warning to white farmers that his government will stick to its policy of removing them from their land.
"We set ourselves an August deadline for the redistribution of land and that deadline stands," he said in a keynote speech, the first since an eviction order for thousands of white farmers came into effect late last week.

Nearly 3,000 farmers have been told to leave their properties, and Mr Mugabe warned those who refuse to comply that they will face the consequences.
