Default Dublin-Monaghan Bombings

At 5:30pm on the afternoon of the 17th of May 1974 3 car bombs exploded simultaneously on Parnell Street, Talbot Street and South Leinster Street in Dublin City centre. An hour and a half later another bomb exploded on North Road in Monaghan Town. The bombs claimed the lives of 30 people and left over 300 maimed or injured. All these bombs were triggered without warning to maximise civilian casulties. Bodies of some of the deceased were never recovered.

No group claimed responisbility until 1993 when loyalist terrorist organisation the UVF(Ulster Volunteer Force) claimed it was them. However evidence has emerege that indicates that the bombings were actually planned and carried out by British Army special forces the SAS. This means that this was an act of war upon the Republic of Ireland and of course an act of State terror. Of course it also adds to the hypocrasy of Britians participation in the "War on Terror" when they have been responsible for terrorists atrocities themselves.

The whole War on Terror should be renamed to the War of Terror, given that it is carried out by the biggest terrorists on the planet. Even if they did not carry out the bombings, British collusion with the UVF, support of Pinochet, selling Saddam weapons AFTER he gassed the Kurds, sinking the Belgrano and supporting all thing US and Israeli makes them as guilty as anyone of advancing terror.

So true, even if that wasn't the SAS I agree with our comrade that Britain must always be hypocrtical in the war "on" terror as long as trhe current government reigns. Not until we have a government that recognises past crimes and apologises can we truly be able to condemn terrorism as a state without hypocrisy.

Who said that? Bosco even called the UVF a "terrorist organisation".

I agree and I number the US president and VP among them.

I think the IRA are freedom fighters.. Just as you call folks like John Hancock, Thomas Jefferson, George Washington, Ben Franklin, Patrick Henry, and the others.. Patriots..

The Brits called them Rebels, today the Brits invoke the word Terrorist.

Can we not lump a whole load of people as thinking exactly the same, you've done it here with "the Brits", a people I've never met in my life, and it has been done many times before by various people. I don't say "the Americans are racist" for example, though some might be.
