My assessment:

-the Holocaust happened, it was probably not exaggerated but it should be known that a large number of the killings were not jewish, jews made up the majority though--the holocaust also killed millions of homosexuals, mentally ill, gypsies, and Russian soldiers and peasants.


-Isreal was threatened and hated as soon as populations began to arrive and colonize under UN supervision. To arabs this was a cultural invasion--and this is sympathizable. To the Jewish population is was freedom, a chance at a Jewish state, and independence.

-Both sides were equally threatened before any war occurred. Isreal immediately feared war from Arab neighbors who generally hated them. The Six Day War was a preemptive strike against what they feared as a future invasion--there were signs pointing to this. Isreal did provoke the war, in order to destroy the military buildup of the Arab league and and Russian-aided nations surrounding it and secure strategic ground and buffer zones to the Israeli state.

For 60 years Israel has survived in a state of fear to which is destroys all opposition before it can build.

For 60 years arabs have survived in a state of anger at what they see as an endless struggle against a western parasite on their land and a threat to their sovereignty.

So it goes both ways.


I think that the location of Israel was just a poor decision in general because of the cultural clash it was bound to create.


-Israel is no better or worse than any of the middle-eastern nations, except that is has a more powerful military.

Im not trying to back it up with facts, it was only an opinion. I dont dislike Israel at all, but I know there are two sides to many stories, and the ongoing tensions and fighting between Israel and its neighbors is no different.

It just seems that under these conditions, Israel likely would have had the opportunity and the motive to push for war. Im just thinking from the perspective of Israel's leadership at the time. Everyone knew there was going to be a war that would set the stage for the next decades, it was almost unavoidable. I think that its possible that Israel may have enticed the first move. Kind of the old "quit while youre ahead" idea--they were prepared to fight, and if there's gonna be a fight, it'll be on our terms. Not neccessarily bad, but it may have been possible.

Not to say its Arab neighbors were poor defenseless little kiddies...they were well aware of their military buildup and everything THEY did to provoke the war as well. I think in this case both sides had something to do with it. Not to say everything in this video was true, but Israel did attack that one city. That was the only confirmed incident though.

I won’t bother to read all of this thread because I don’t want to be disgusted by anti-Semitism first thing here. But I do want to point out that all of the countries that Israel supposedly attacked in the Six Day War had all declared war on Israel in 1948 and were all still legally at war with Israel since none of them (by 1967) had signed a peace treaty with Israel or formally recognized Israel’s legal right to exist as a nation state.

I take offense to that. March lockstep with Israel, or else you hate Jewish people!

Israelis instigated the Six-Day War? Come on! The Arabs were humiliated continously on the battlefield(1948,1956,1967,1973,1982 in Lebanon) so they acted out of their impotence to become terrorists.What they couldn't accomplish on the battlefield they decided to try on the airlines.Nasser closes the Straits of Tiran,colludes with Jordan and Syria,orders out the UN peacekeepers and then cries when Israel kicks his butt.Man,talk about revisionist history!

The Six Day War was in 1967.
