Finny: Bit of a topic drift, as we were following through on the post #1 thread starter focused on the US, Canada and Australia.

But since you mentioned it. (^:

The ancient Celts were in the same role as Native Americans in the US and Canada, and Aboriginies in Australia. Julius Ceasar was a sociopathic genius in working one tribe against the other until he extended the Roman Empire as far as England. Then the English learned Ceasar's sociopathic tactics and continued into Scotland, Wales and Ireland - the remaining areas of ancient Celtic culture.

Its ironic you bring up the Celts. While it's widely believed by common folk.. that the Celts were only Native to the UK and Ireland. The Celts actually came from Asia Minor (Turkey area) and the Balkans (or the Middle East by some).Celts were around before the Gauls, Goths, Vikings, and the rest the Romans fought as the Gauls Goths and Vikings were Celts by origin and split after end of the Ice Age. So in a sense Celts are doing pretty damn well.

There are tons of stories (Oral Traditional Stories) I've been told by Grandparents (who heard it from their parents and so on). One including that the Blarney Stone, is a piece of the Stone of Destiny (Jacob's Pillow brought to Ireland by Jeremiah).. to it being the Stone of Ezel which protected David (before King) from King Saul.. but it depends on what you believe. But some of the stories do have facts with them as the McCarthy clan (owners of the Blarney Castle) along with the O'Crowley clan (served with the McCarthy in ousting English rule) both fought at Battle of Bannockburn, along side of the Knights Templar and Robert the Bruce (think William Wallace).

It's questionable whether any significant number of Templars fought at Bannockburn. However, I have no doubt at all that some were. I don't think that an organised force of Templars took the field.

If you live in America, you live on land that used to belong to Native Americans. If you complain about how badly we treated them so much, do you think we should all pack up and live in England again?

There's no connection. The harm has been done. There's no suggestion that the continent should be emptied and everyone return to their ancestral country. Take that far enough and the whole world will be living in the Rift Valley. I think the Kenyans would be a bit cranky about that and it would be a bit of a squeeze.

There are other questions which are pertinent to the reality of contemporary situations in the countries nominated. Not much point in trading blows as to whose colonial ancestors were the worst towards indigenous people, although no doubt that will get an airing.

Go back to England? I am of Irish ancestry. Why would I want to go back to England?

And there is no way for Russel Means and the Lakota to secede from the United States.

There is no reasonable way to give the land back and leave. We can do more to recognize and empower tribal independence.

Ever heard of the 'Black Legend'?

you're reinforcing a myth developed over centuries mainly by anglos against Iberians. I'm not saying the Spanish were wonderful and benign, but they were no worse than other groups of European colonizers.
