Default Global Warming Absurdity

It's become amusing reading all the absurd claims being made by the supporters of the new Inquisition, also known as global warming and/or climate change ( the backup argument used for when it actually gets colder instead) so I have decided to make a thread for all the ridiculousness that makes its way into the media and will add to it as they pop up.

Starting with today's latest claim. We're all going to get kidney stones.

Quote:
More Americans are likely to suffer from kidney stones in the coming years as a result of global warming, according to researchers at the University of Texas.

Kidney stones, which are formed from dissolved minerals in the urine and can be extremely painful, are often caused by caused by dehydration, either by not drinking enough liquid or losing too much due to high heat conditions.

If global warming trends continue as projected by the UN Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change in 2007, the United States can expect as much as a 30 percent growth in kidney stone disease in some of its driest areas, said the findings published in Monday's Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences.

Global warming caused Katrina, because we all know there were no such things as really bad hurricanes until 2005, and caused Black Hawk Dawn because there were no such things as droughts until 1993 and there was no sitting President in the White House to make an asinine decision to not give these soldiers appropriate back up when requested.

Quote:
A top Democrat told high school students gathered at the U.S. Capitol Thursday that climate change caused Hurricane Katrina and the conflict in Darfur, which led to the “black hawk down” battle between U.S. troops and Somali rebels.

Rep. Edward Markey (D-Mass.), chairman of the House (Select) Energy Independence and Global Warming Committee, also equated the drive for global warming legislation with the drive for women’s suffrage in the late 19th and early 20th centuries.

This was from last year. The new U.N. Secretary General claimed that global warming is responsible for the Darfur crises.

Al Gore reminds us that we're all going to die while he jets around the world polluting more than most human beings on the planet.

Quote:
His solution was to do away with all carbon-emitting forms of electricity production in the U.S. within 10 years, replacing them with alternatives such as solar, wind and geothermal power, conservation and so-called clean-coal technology in which all carbon emissions from the burning of coal are captured and stored. It is a bold, and some say, unrealistic goal given the tremendous cost and the nation's fractious politics.

The Alliance for Climate Protection, a bipartisan group Gore leads, put the 30-year cost of his plan – both government and private – at $1.5trillion to $3 trillion.

Gore admitted his plan would, at least initially, drive energy prices higher. But he proposed a payroll tax cut to offset higher prices for fuel and electricity.

Global Climate Change doesn't need anyone's permission to be... not yours, not mine, not anybody's...

and it doesn't matter how many stories you find that may say ridiculous things about it... it's here, it's happening and unless something is done to either turn it around or prepare for what will eventually come, our future on the planet looks bleak...

A ridiculous story about some smuck saying this or that about it does not validate the entire theory. That is just a sad fallacy.

The real fallacy is in assuming that climate change is a bad thing and that we absolutely must do something about it.

Talk to me about climate change when Al Gore and his cult followers are all living exactly the kind of green lifestyle they propose to force on everyone else!

"I'm a panda," he says at the door. "Look it up."

The waiter turns to the relevant entry and, sure enough, finds an explanation.

"Panda. Large black-and-white bear-like mammal, native to China. Eats, shoots and leaves."

So because Al Gore is a hypocritic, that discredits everything else?

It goes to credibility. Besides, it has not been proven that climate change is necessarily a bad thing or that there have not been periods of warming and cooling in the past. Why do we assume that just because we're arguably the dominant species on the planet that we should be exempt from having to adapt to changes in the environment instead of trying to force the environment to adapt to us?
