The truth is that global cooling was never a widely accepted theory in climatology, so passing it off as if the scientific community did leap on board it...is grossly dishonest spin. That didn't happen. The media blew out of proportion some predictions that, if trends continued, it MIGHT be the case. And this was only a small portion anyway.

Pretending it was a strong expert consensus is dishonest. THe opposite is true now of Global Warming.

Others here have suggested that it is not a decision of the majority. I'll go as far as to say that it shouldn't be a "decision" that anyone makes and should not be based on whether or not a majority accept it.

Remember The Population Bomb (1968) by Paul R. Ehrlich? OH how the left were enamored by his insight and 'credibility' and all of it has been proven wrong.. he was the AL Gore of his day.. and all wrong.. just like Al Gore.
I don't remember that specific work but I do remember the hype about overpopulation.

Whether overpopulation, a coming ice age, global warming, it's all a bunch of hype.

"Why?" asks the confused waiter, as the panda makes toward the exit. The panda produces a badly punctuated wildlife manual and tosses it over his shoulder.

"I'm a panda," he says at the door. "Look it up."

The waiter turns to the relevant entry and, sure enough, finds an explanation.

"Panda. Large black-and-white bear-like mammal, native to China. Eats, shoots and leaves."

Science isn't what people try to make it out to be. It is not merely the scientific method, it's putting the philosophy of naturalism into practice. Like any philosophy or religion, one is expected to accept as dogma the various a priori assumptions on which the interpretation of findings is based.

It's amazing how that has all worked out. Just one more reason why all this stuff about global warming is nothing but hype.

Great attitude to have. I suppose all that stuff about it being possible for a meteor to hit the earth is just hype, too, eh?
You're seriously going to deny that overpopulation is any kind of problem?

Just about anything is theoretically "possible." That doesn't mean we need to get all bent out of shape about it. As for "overpopulation," I deny that there even is overpopulation (on a global scale). There is still plenty of room on the planet for the existing population.

Pathetic.

Yes, people can live in deserts and mountains and under the ocean just fine.

Oh, wait...

People do live in deserts and mountains. We haven't yet developed the technology for living under the ocean but it might be worth pursuing.

Yes, but deserts and mountains simply cannot support large or even medium numbers of people. The places we do have that support large numbers of people are very, very, very crowded.

I guess "overpopulation" is a subjective thing.
