I have lost all faith in democracy. It can't solve these important global crises, given the fundamental basis of democracy is flawed: individual participation of the commoner. You don't need to be intelligent, you don't need to be educated. All you need to be is 18 and have a pulse. And your vote counts just as much.

Democracy fails. Hard. What we need is something else. A Technocracy where the intellectually superior and the technicians are no longer stifled in their scientific duties in the economy, industry, or elsewhere by know-nothing politicians and even dumber constituencies. There is only ONE best way to fix the problems, and they are not subject to vote or opinion. They are matters of fact and science, and conclusions arrive through the application of reasoned debate among educated, credentialed technicians. We live in a world now where scientists give the government reports and the government hands those reports back to them with edits, where libraries are shut down so people can't learn the truth, and where pecuniary interests of businessmen and lawyers lord over scientists.

The scientist is a slave doing unthanked work for relatively poor pay, only to have his warnings ignored by people who probably shouldn't even be allowed to run for office in the first place.

One day, perhaps before it is too late, the engineers and scientists of the world will rise up and seize control by conducting a general strike and shutting down the world. One can only dream.

We may have an early winter this year. It must be getting colder because of all that man made global warming.

Quote:
Snow showers could appear as early as Nov. 6-9 this year, but it will be Thanksgiving before real winter-like weather arrives in the lower Great Lakes region, according to The Old Farmer's Almanac 2009 edition.

"..Snow at Thanksgiving will signal the coming of a very cold period," the 217th edition of the weather and astrological forecasting publication reports for the Lower Lakes. The region stretches roughly from Milwaukee and Chicago northeast to Syracuse with Detroit and most of the lower peninsula of Michigan in the middle.

Temperatures for this region in the last part of November and into December will average about 8 degrees below normal, then see-saw upwards in January before dropping again in February and March, the Almanac predicts. In fact, the publication predicts temperatures wil be colder than normal in most parts of the country this winter.

Global Warming can screw up typical weather patterns. You can get wild fluctuations in different areas. People keep confusing global averages and local patterns.

I kind of agree with TU here.

Only proves, again, that you are very poor at researching things.

I did not make the claim. If you believe it, what is the basis for your belief?

Was it based on actual data from experiments or is it just your "GUT Feelings" or someone else's gut feelings?

I would be surprised if you even respond. It would be funny if it were not so sad...

Nobody compares to the insanity of the Brits.

Quote:
The threat of global warming is so great that campaigners were justified in causing more than £35,000 worth of damage to a coal-fired power station, a jury decided yesterday. In a verdict that will have shocked ministers and energy companies the jury at Maidstone Crown Court cleared six Greenpeace activists of criminal damage.

Jurors accepted defence arguments that the six had a "lawful excuse" to damage property at Kingsnorth power station in Kent to prevent even greater damage caused by climate change. The defence of "lawful excuse" under the Criminal Damage Act 1971 allows damage to be caused to property to prevent even greater damage – such as breaking down the door of a burning house to tackle a fire.

The not-guilty verdict, delivered after two days and greeted with cheers in the courtroom, raises the stakes for the most pressing issue on Britain's green agenda and could encourage further direct action.

The Independent
What a sad, pathetic little island they've become.

That's ironic in a way you surely don't understand at all.

I'm not going to waste my time showing you data, you will simply dismiss it as leftist/socialist propaganda designed to propagate tyranny and take your money.
