I am hoping for the new breakthrough to be workable. Water is poured into a tank with aluminum and gallium rods or pellets and by spontaneous chemical reaction transforms into hydrogen. The idea is not transporting hydrogen to different sites but having hydrogen generators at different sites. The information I am missing at this point relates to economic feasibility. How much is the aluminum and gallium going to cost and could it be available in huge quantities. There is an excellent article in Technology Review (an M.I.T. online magazine) on this.
