What you say is true, on both counts.

At any rate, we shouldn't discount fission, but we should still work for fusion. It is theoretically possible; just not cold fusion. It's a matter of building a vessel. Also, a good alternative is solar, but that's worthless at nighttime unless you have some damn good batteries or, better yet, capacitors.

Also, we're at least decades away from the types of magnetic fields that could fuse hydrogen. It's a great idea, but we won't have that capability for centuries.

I'm writing a song about nuclear power:

Code:
C                      Caug
Coal is too dirty; gas prices are flirty;
 F             C            D
Iran's got the biggest cash cow.
C                            Caug
Wind's got no power; solar's for just twelve hour(s);
     Am         C#dim     Dm
Cold fusion has failed us for now.
             F            C       C#dim      Dm
There's just one thing to do; I'm looking at you,
       F             C        G
'Cause fission's the only way how.
I made a recording of your song:

http://toddwsmith.info/Bureau%20of%2...%20Fission.mp3

That's me playing piano and singing. Enjoy.

Put it in F# or Ab. Those are the best keys.

Nah... I'm only marginally good at piano. ;)

If you mean the actual piano key Ab, well, there's an Ab (G#) in Caug... ;)

I like the chord progression and all, but what's with the random unresolved secondary dominant (D major on Iran)?

I dunno... Sounds good. ;)

I know a lot of music theory, but I always trust my ear before I trust theory, and the way I play it it sounds fine - I'm looking for a sort of "lost" feel for the first part, and I'm more concerned about way the C - Caug sounds than the D.

I presume, then, that you're playing this on guitar? Often substitutions are made on guitar, in my own experience, that would be random and out-of-place on a piano, but sound fine on a guitar due to its limitations.

I play both, in case it weren't obvious. Gotta love music theory.

No, I'm playing it on a piano, but you're right, guitar is my preferred instrument. I've got a Peavey JF-2 EX hollow-body, and it's a beaut. Play it through a Marshall and I can do everything from accoustic to jazz to a near AC/DC sound. ;)

I'll see if I can get a recording of me playing it, but the only thing I have to record with is an mp3 player mic, and I'm not sure if I have the USB cable I need to hook it to my computer. I'll do it tomorrow if I get the chance.
