Default Silence of the Bees

In the winter of 2006, a strange phenomenon fell upon honeybee hives across the country (the United States). Without a trace, millions of bees vanished from their hives.

A precious pollinator of fruits and vegetables, the disappearing bees left billions of dollars of crops at risk and threatened our food supply. The epidemic set researchers scrambling to discover why honeybees were dying in record numbers -- and to stop the epidemic in its tracks before it spread further.

Nature . Silence of the Bees | PBS

Maybe instead of putting all our efforts into fighting Global Warming (assuming it really is the threat the Al Gore Cult says it is), we should be focusing on a more immediate danger: the loss of nature's pollinators. On the PBS special linked above, it was mentioned that in one part of China, where pears are grown, all the bees have disappeared, requiring pear farmers to pollinate by hand.

Nutritionists and health professionals keep telling us to eat more fruits, vegetables and nuts but these are crops that require pollination.

"Why?" asks the confused waiter, as the panda makes toward the exit. The panda produces a badly punctuated wildlife manual and tosses it over his shoulder.

"I'm a panda," he says at the door. "Look it up."

The waiter turns to the relevant entry and, sure enough, finds an explanation.

"Panda. Large black-and-white bear-like mammal, native to China. Eats, shoots and leaves."

Woo.

Just the last two days I have had a bee problem. The screen in the window was slightly unlatched and they were crawling in. Serae got stung by one, she stepped on it. The thing is they ALL were screwed up. They could not fly and were all dying or dead. I found about 30 dead bees on the window sill. There were about 10 on the floor. I fixed the window so I should not get anymore, but that is freaky.

It never ceases to amaze me that idiots try to defeat Global Warming through ad hominem by associating it with some "Al Gore" cult, despite Al Gore ultimately being irrelevant to whether or not Global Warming exists.

Given there are plenty of scientists in the climatological community, attacking Al Gore in no way refutes Global Warming. It's just plain retarded tactic used by snarky imbeciles who think it's cute.

It's no different from attacking evolution because you dislike the so-called "Dawkin's cult." Just as stupid.

The Global Warming issue is far more pressing than the bee problem. Fix the bee problem, and you are screwed worse by GLobal Warming. Deal with global warming, and you can then fix the bee problem. Global Warming means bees will be the least of your problems.

The bee problem is a much more immediate danger. Whether global warming is entirely man-made or is, at least in part, a normal part of nature, is still subject to debate. The issue isn't whether the earth's temperature has increased by about a degree or so in the last 100 years but whether it is a natural phenomenon. If global warming were a jury trial, the defendant would be acquitted because of reasonable doubt.
