This is precisely the problem with innovation. All of those millions of dollas going to grossly oveirndulge the billionaire oil corporations need to be stopped. That is simply an extra little butt kiss from the Republican legislators that have prostituted themselves out to big oil.

What we need is JUMP START money. In short, you see something like this and you have funding sources to get it into full production ASAP.
Wow- talk about attacking the wrong front. What does battery development have to do with "big oil", or the GOP?

There have been over 1,600,000 Li-ion bateries recalled in the US alone. With that record no large car company is going to take the risk of accepting them without long term testing. Right now GM and Toyota are testing the crap out of this stuff, but don't expect to see it in a dealership until 2011- at the earliest.

One could easliy argue that the delay is caused by fear of sue-happy Democrat trial lawyers and Ralph Naderists than any Republican!

Did you read the article? The company I cited is producing the alternative to the lithium ion battery.

"One could easliy argue that the delay is caused by fear of sue-happy Democrat trial lawyers and Ralph Naderists than any Republican!"

Sounds like you are into a purely PARTISAN debate on this whereas I am trying to get an alternative on the market for everyone.

No thank you for the stereotypes.

I would be more than happy to see the billionaire companies ignore this and citizen groups buying or retrofitting these cars and leaving the rest of us in their dust.

Not a Republican or Democrat issue: it is all about consumers breaking the dependency on oil, electricity, etc from billionaire monopolies.

Yes I read it, and went to the manufacturer's web site. I also saw this from post 2: "That is simply an extra little butt kiss from the Republican legislators that have prostituted themselves out to big oil." Which I assumed was a partisan attack. Maybe you can tell me how it's not.

And what do you call Senate Republicans with only a few exceptions voting against windfall profits taxes that would be invested in alternative energy and building refineries, and voting against abolishing subsidies for billionaire corporations that have been making record breaking profits?

Valence is producing Lithium PHOSPHATE batteries, not Lithium (Cobalt) ION batteries. Its batteries in independent testing showed no potential for overheating and are therefore much safer.

Independent Testing Proves Safety of Valence Technology's Lithium Phosphate Batteries

1. I would call that a wise choice; protecting capitalism from Marxism.

2. Again, product liability concerns require slow-go with any potentially dangerous product. All those trail lawyers are card-carrying Democrats, after all.

WHAT CAPITALISM???!!!

What we have is government assisted mega profits for billionaire near monopoly corporate cartels. It has nothing at all to do with Marxism and everything to do with corrupt to the core politicians prostituting themselve out to the highest bidder, .... energy billionaire corporations.

We are beyond lithium (cobalt) ion batteries and I have posted on that. If you do not care to read any of that, at least don't come back here as if you have any credibility left.

1. Congress has brought the oil companies up for hearings every time there is a "crisis", yet has never found any evidence of a "cartel". Feel free to keep telling yourself otherwise, as if you have any credibility left.
2. Again (again), product liability concerns require slow-go with any potentially dangerous product. All those trail lawyers are card-carrying Democrats, after all.

And the "brilliant" Democrats have failed every time to back up their accusations.

They just had senate hearings with all the big oil corporations present. They were given $70 million in subsidies for exploration for new oil fields. They said they have spent on $1.5 million. Generally speaking the oil fields are not trying to build new refineries or explore for new fields. They are not drilling on the available federal lands.

What else do you call it when the Republican leaders in the Senate call for all Republicans voting no as a block of votes twice now? Any random accident that these billionaire corporations are among the heaviest GOP contributors?
