The resources don't belong to "society," they belong to individuals. Society exists solely for the benefit of the individual and not the other way around.

A panda walks into a cafe. He orders a sandwich, eats it, then draws a gun and fires two shots in the air. "Why?" asks the confused waiter, as the panda makes toward the exit. The panda produces a badly punctuated wildlife manual and tosses it over his shoulder. "I'm a panda," he says at the door. "Look it up." The waiter turns to the relevant entry and, sure enough, finds an explanation. "Panda. Large black-and-white bear-like mammal, native to China. Eats, shoots and leaves." |

You're confusing "society" with "state", a society is a group of humans and humans have always needed to live in a group to survive. So in fact what you owe to society has little to do with what it does for you but more to do with a collective responsibility in that we all live in a society and if we all did nothing for it would collapse.

Either way I owe nothing to either though, as society owes nothing to anyone else. It is just a group of individuals interacting. We do not "need" to be in a group to live, that just makes thing easier. No one individual owes anything to society and society owes nothing to an individual. |

Yes, well, there does seem to be a conspiracy to keep quiet about the role all that methane plays in global warming.

Yes, I know you were but much of what makes something facetious is that it has a grain of truth.
