There are also threads here I posted on hydrogen. There are several companies around the world competing on a new way to generate hydrogen. It is based on simple chemical reaction using water, aluminum rods or pellets and one of several different choices of pellets, such as galladium. The concept is that you generate hydrogen at our site of operation. In other words, you could set yourself up to generate hydrogen at home. I have yet to see the price on this operation. Galladium and other elements in use are somewhat rare and expensive. You might also need to have the means to fuel celling your hydrogen at home to set up your own independent operation.

You can generate hydrogen by mixing muriatic acid with aluminum. I'd advise you to do it outside though, in small quantities. The reaction is very fast, and even a small quantity of each will explode a soda bottle.
