Make it a bit bigger and it may replace my Expedition. I like the ten-minute recharge. That's not much longer than fueling with gasoline.

Yeah, they're getting better and better. I just really want the solar film on top. That way it can charge all day. In most places. On most days.

The only concern would be, what would that do to the cost of electricity?

At 3 cents a gallon (comparitively) it would increase demand. Unless everyone gets a solar panel to plug into. Then demand would go down.

It would get in the way of my roof rack, so I wouldn't be checking that option box.

No, it's a film. It covers your car like paint. Like on this one.

This is the workable option I see being put into place for consumers unplugging from the electric power plants and gas pump. They are coming out with Nanotech solar panels based on a film that does not use silicone, the expensive item in traditional solar panels. Beyond the new film based solar panels, they are also working on paint on solar power.

A combination of having either the paint on solar power on your house or the new solar panels that work even on cloudy days and a plug in vehicle utilizing the new lithium ion batteries and you would be self sufficient.

And we need to be careful of the billionaire near monopolies acting to buy up patents or murdering people to keep the option of going independent out of reach.

But with the increase in demand, those who sell the electricity will raise the price because they (wrongly) claim there is some "law" of supply and demand that somehow requires them to raise prices either with lower supply or increased demand (or both).

"Why?" asks the confused waiter, as the panda makes toward the exit. The panda produces a badly punctuated wildlife manual and tosses it over his shoulder.

"I'm a panda," he says at the door. "Look it up."

The waiter turns to the relevant entry and, sure enough, finds an explanation.

"Panda. Large black-and-white bear-like mammal, native to China. Eats, shoots and leaves."
