I have an idea to lower the price of gas: ride a bike! I do it all the time! If anything, the government should be taking that $12 billion (is it $12 billion a day, or a week, or a month?) and pour it into getting fusion power, or making fission more efficient and safe. Then they could start trying to invent electric cars, and then we won't need to worry about oil ever again except to make plastics.

Riding a bike is hopeful, I do that too when ever I can, but seeing as I work 20 miles from home, biking is not very possible as a reliable means of transportation. Nor can you take a lot of groceries on one, or pick kids up from school or other events.

Oil prices are going nowhere but up. Even if we control our consumption, China's automobile market is growing exponentially. They are going to take up any consumption we give up.

But if we lower our consumption than the price won't go up as high as if we didn't. Anyway, if we secure or dollar and stop sending money to China, than that will hurt their income and make it so that they have to find an alternative to pricey oil.

It seems we are beholden to them for much more than oil. If they start dumping their U.S. holdings, our economy would suffer too. Which would again weaken the dollar. Right now the U.S. is barely standing and other nations are holding us up. We really need to get our act together. I wonder how many of "the powers that be" still have their holdings in U.S. dollars?

Well, all the rate cuts that the feds did didn't help. Rate cuts usually cause inflation and a lower value of the dollar, so now that they are believed to be done making cuts, maybe the dollar will stabalize and we can get back up and running.

Nationalize oil like other countries and eliminate all of the money grubbing millionaire executives and CEO's. And don't respond that it is free market capitalism because we are talking about two or three corporations monopolizing the market. NO REAL COMPETITION!

Well, there is an amendment process built into the Constitution from the very beginning. All I ask is that people who want to change the Constitution use that process.

A panda walks into a cafe. He orders a sandwich, eats it, then draws a gun and fires two shots in the air. "Why?" asks the confused waiter, as the panda makes toward the exit. The panda produces a badly punctuated wildlife manual and tosses it over his shoulder. "I'm a panda," he says at the door. "Look it up." The waiter turns to the relevant entry and, sure enough, finds an explanation. "Panda. Large black-and-white bear-like mammal, native to China. Eats, shoots and leaves." |
