How do you figure? ABC news last night said now 28% of US corn production goes into ethanol. And many farmers have switched acreage out of wheat production to corn, increasing the price of wheat. Who but environmentalists pushed the ethanol idea? For years? We're literally burning our food, and people complain about high food prices?

Tell me this: which lobby is more influential in Washington, the Environmentalist or the Industrial Farmer?

The increase in ethanol production is splitting the farm lobby in half, Corn vs Everything else. This is hardly the fault of the various farm lobbies. As said before Al Gore was the one who cast the deciding vote requiring a huge increase in "alternative energy" which has now seen its potential problems come to fruition.

Alternative energy doesn't need to mean burning corn.

Will Media Remember Gore's 1994 Tie-breaking Vote Mandating Ethanol?

Fair enough. Though the Republicans had control of congress for like 12 years... why didn't they fix that?

Because the world has been deluded to think ethanol was ever going to be a viable alternative. To do against it was only an opinion of ignorant environment hating assholes (who have turned out to be right).

Who gave industrial farmers the idea? How many more looney ecofascist ideas will lead to disaster?
