I don't have the exact information right now, but there is records of the CO2 amount and the temperature and there is a clear relationship between them. The rise in CO2 levels shouldn't be rising as fast as they are now and I haven't seen any evidence of a rise as sharp as their currently is because of human invovlement. There have been records of when the temperature was much higher and the CO2 amounts were also higher, with no icecaps, but we wouldn't want to live in an enviornment like that. |

It's clearly not an entirely natural cycle, nerv. You've just repeated my basic point--albeit more eloquently than I did.
Oh, and welcome to PF. Always nice to see a fellow rational thinker.

Got this bit of wisdome from my local paper on a comment about our states fight to stop the expansion of a coal fired plant in SW KS.
Quote; The History Channel had a program about the history of concrete and how it's used. Part of the story involved a special acid-proof cement that is used on the inside of smoke stacks at coal fired power plants. They said if ordinary cement were used, the exhaust from the stacks would eat up the cement in a couple of weeks. The glaring fact for me was that this hideous exhaust was being released into the atmosphere! Other than that, there is a scientific consenus that mankind is causing global warming with greenhouse gases, including CO2. The pollution in China can be see from space satellites. Of course the big money industrialists want to confuse the issue so that they can continue to make money. They're perfectly willing to spend what it takes to get their hired researchers to issue conflicting reports. Those who are working to save the planet don't stand to make a dime from their efforts. End of Quote.

I've seen it experimentally proved that CO2 concentrations in the atmosphere do raise the temperature.
We had a scientist demonstrate what happens to CO2 when you shoot infrared light into it. Hint: it gets hotter.

Yes, it is nice to see another rationalist here. We are in short supply.
