Get the scientists working on a new computer model, stat! And, for Gods sake! What is that big glowing ball of fire in the sky?!?! Don't look directly at it!

Global warming? Sure. I believe in global cooling, too. I also believe that the sun is the main cause of them both. We do not live in a cosmic fishbowl. The Enviromentalists concern about changes in our climate, which is inevitabe, have less to do with science (as evidenced by the shoddy 'science' of their ivory tower witchdoctors) than it does their hatred of humanity.

But, if I had my way, if I controlled the temp, if I had super-capitalist powers of unnatural command over nature, I'd take global warming every time. Humanity doesn't do well in the cold.

You sound absurd. Yes, scientific consensus is derived from communal self-hatred. :idiot:

Actually, there's a popular theory about human evolution which holds that cooling temperatures were the environmental cause of increasing human intelligence. The cold might be the reason we're talking right now.

Show me a climate prediction model which acknowledges the existence of the sun and I may reconsider. Until then, the witchdoctors (read: tax-sucking shills), are the ones who sound absurd. This whole irrational fear of what the weather gods might do next is begining to concern me. I'd thought western civilization was past such base primitivism.

Please expound. Beside killing off a great portion of people at the time and cutting off the ancestral Europeans from the rest of humanity for tens of thousands of years, I hadn't really considered just how much the last Ice Age might have affected human evolution. Sounds interesting.

All climate models are going to incorporate the sun. As a telling point: different levels of the atmosphere heat and cool at different rates. At present, while the troposphere is warming, the stratosphere has been somewhat cooler, which is entirely consistent with warming from the inside, and entirely inconsistent with warming from the outside.

As a side note, I found it amusing when the American Association of Petroleum Geologists (that would be: scientists who make their money working strictly for giant oil companies) had to change its stance to incorporate global warming because their members kept quitting in protest.

Yes, the science is all lies.

Too much heat SUCKS!

France heat wave death toll set at 14,802
PARIS (AP) — The death toll in France from August's blistering heat wave has reached nearly 15,000, according to a government-commissioned report released Thursday, surpassing a prior tally by more than 3,000.

Is the cold all that bad?

Quote:
Biting cold blamed for three deaths
(AP) -- The cold weather that gripped the Northeast during the weekend was blamed for at least three deaths, including one man found in a house with no heat and a woman whose home had improperly vented heaters.
I think we need ACTUAL data for the past 2000 years to really determine the trend in the environment.

Thanks for the link redwards. You're more courteous than I am, I think. I hate doing legwork for other people.

That's what you would think. But it introduces a whole new array of variables which the gov't grant-eating 'scientists' aren't willing incorporate. At least, they won't until they get ridiculed enough for their glaring ommissions and woefully inadequate data.

Dreamer, your comparison is fallacious. America is a first world country. France is...well, its France.

Atabap: Nice. That's so pathetic it's almost funny.
