Local authority here introduced recycling a couple of years back. If you don't comply, they will letter you and follow it up.
They provide three bins, one for normal waste, one for things like cardboard, one for plastic, least I think that's how it works, rubbish is not my responsibility here.
Cunningly, they only pick these up alternate weeks, so if you don't separate it into different bins your normal bin will overflow.
I also have a compost bin in the garden, full and awaiting conversion into soil at the moment.

Yep. My college finally is getting serious about it. You can't go anywhere on campus without finding recycle bins all over the place. They are sometimes easier to find than a rubbish bin!

My campus has far more recycling bins than trash bins.

That's good, we have a paper recycling, but that doesn't include card, only thin paper, and we have no glass or plastic recycling.

I've recycled since 1980, before anyone was recycling. There was a recycling center at the local college campus, so once a week I used to drive our family's glass, aluminum and plastic there. Now I recycle everything at home and at the office. They call me a hippie. LOL!

Lol, I doubt any Obama supporter is a hippie.

We recycle cans, but that's it.

Oh yeah, I forgot, we reuse cans at my dad's house. Plinking at 100 yards with .22 and 7.62x39... heh.
