Not at all. Democrats and Republicans are two sides of the same big government nanny stater interventionist coin. I agree with George Washington (Do they still teach you kids about him?) who said the United States should not interfere in the internal affairs of other countries.
Internal yes. but once they cross a border we need to examine our interests.

Our interests end at the point where one enters international waters from our shores.

"I'm a panda," he says at the door. "Look it up."

The waiter turns to the relevant entry and, sure enough, finds an explanation.

"Panda. Large black-and-white bear-like mammal, native to China. Eats, shoots and leaves."

An oversimplified notion to say the least.

Its funny how when the American revolution happened we could not have done it without France. And the GW quote you spouted was I believe in reference to a french problem.

We owed it to our ally to help them do the same thing they helped us do. But when they called in their marker that is what we got. Adams got to deal with an entire term dealing with the fact that we screwed them over hard core.

But you stick to you belief. Because the world is a large place and we have no need for allies.

And? There is nothing wrong with diplomacy and getting 'recognized' by other sovereign entitities.

Are you referring to the quasi-war?

Well, I could have gone into this long explanation with a lot of quotes from old time famous guys but I figured the shorter answer is better for this venue.

Well, we might not have been able to do it without France's help. England was, after all, one of the world's superpowers at the time. But it doesn't mean Washinton was wrong.

In the long term we were better off not getting involved

Allies, no. Friends and trading partners, yes.
