There are religious nuts in our government who want to bring about Armageddon so yeah, they would love to cause a conflagration. I count GW among their number - after all, God told him to invade Iraq - and Palin is one too, I'm sure.

Angel, I love that Mooselini graphic in your signature - very clever!

I guess the Obama supporters in this forum find this thread (being a duplicate thread) and it's title more appealing than the one I posted earlier on the same topic. I posted it 1/2 hour before this thread was posted: Palin "Likely" to Have Abused Authority - Political Fever - The Political Debate Forums. What can one expect in what seems to be a an anti-republican dominated forum...

As far as the committee's comments are concerned, there is a difference between "it was likely" and "it was". One confirms the fact, and the other speculates on the reasons:
Quote:
The investigative report concludes that a family grudge wasn't the sole reason for firing Public Safety Commissioner Walter Monegan but says it likely was a contributing factor.
You missed an important point in the article:
Quote:
But the panel of lawmakers voted to release the report, although not without dissension.

"I think there are some problems in this report," said Republican state Sen. Gary Stevens, a member of the panel. "I would encourage people to be very cautious, to look at this with a jaundiced eye."
This tells me that there may be some bias going on here by some of the panel members. They obviously were in disagreement about releasing the report. If they were ALL so united in the findings, this would not be the case.

Hey, sometimes I post a duplicate thread, too and not deliberately because of any bias I hold against the originator of the first one; it just happens. It's no big deal. I'll go ahead and merge them now so the various political proclivities can harmoniously join in a single thread.

I'd respect that - but the base loves Palin so I don't see it happening.

I have to say that the McVeigh fringe seems pretty riled up - scary folk!

They aren't the McVeigh 'fringe' they are the rank and file being manipulated by their neoconservative leadership. Fat Karl Rove politics 101.

They actually have preachers giving sermons at their exec meetings now. If you don't subscribe to their religious convictions.....which is the trib / rapture cultism, then you aren't welcome. These views are even considered heresy in traditional protestant circles.

They are freightening..........and dangerous.

Regardless, I am sure that a few points will be lost for the McCain campaign due to this report.

Could the results of the report been politically motivated and was the legislative committee biased?? We may never know. What do you think?

Legislative panel: Palin abused authority

ANCHORAGE, Alaska - A legislative committee investigating Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin has found she unlawfully abused her authority in firing the state's public safety commissioner.

The investigative report concludes that a family grudge wasn't the sole reason for firing Public Safety Commissioner Walter Monegan but says it likely was a contributing factor.

The Republican vice presidential nominee has been accused of firing a commissioner to settle a family dispute. Palin supporters have called the investigation politically motivated.

Monegan says he was dismissed as retribution for resisting pressure to fire a state trooper involved in a bitter divorce with the governor's sister. Palin says Monegan was fired as part of a legitimate budget dispute.
How come you didn't highlight this sentence? It's the one that really spells out their conclusion. You have to search for the "likely" comment as though they were not sure? I don't see "likely" in any of these titles?

Whine whine whine.

We're in unpopular wars, there's an economic crisis with an unpopular solution...of course the party in power (Republicans) are going to be unpopular.

Relax. If Obama wins, he'll probably be a one term president, just based on what he's inheriting. This will not be an easy presidency. The Republicans may be able to turn this into a win in 2012.
