It certainly is, here in AZ. Even undeveloped land has value, which can be assessed and taxed accordingly. It's nowhere near what improved land is, of course, but it is at least something.

I see what you're getting at, here, but how past is past? I mean, Americans snagged all this land from the Natives a century (or two) ago, and it just is what it is. Claims are only valid if they can be upheld, and possession is 9/10ths, as they say.

History is replete with land winners and losers. It's actually quite remarkable that there are any Native Americans left...usually the displaced tend to disappear or are absorbed.

How far would we have to roll this sort of thing back? When we first dropped out of the African trees?

We can start right now as a base point; geoism would at least compensate Native Americans, since the land they occupy is usually less valued than what most whites use.

But we already have this kind of system: PROPERTY TAXES!

A panda walks into a cafe. He orders a sandwich, eats it, then draws a gun and fires two shots in the air.

"Why?" asks the confused waiter, as the panda makes toward the exit. The panda produces a badly punctuated wildlife manual and tosses it over his shoulder.

"I'm a panda," he says at the door. "Look it up."

The waiter turns to the relevant entry and, sure enough, finds an explanation.

"Panda. Large black-and-white bear-like mammal, native to China. Eats, shoots and leaves."
