Saying that I'm on the forum "day in and day out" would imply the same of you.

Thanks awfully old chap for your heartfelt and touching concern.

This is exactly correct. Regretably, the Democratic Party has, in recent years, fetishized "fairness"--a very subjective and slippery concept--and many have decided that it is simply unfair for Big Oil to make huge profits, regardless of the inconvenient fact that its profit margin is no greater than what is typical of American industries. (On this point, compare Barack Obama's recent response when asked if he would insist upon higher marginal tax rates for the wealthy, even if that would produce a reduced stream of revenue, due to depressed economic activity. His response: Yes, certainly, he would still be in favor of higher taxes on the wealthy; it is just a matter of fairness.)

That's a pretty damned stupid remark to make! Parties become viable when people, say it with me, vote for them.

"Why?" asks the confused waiter, as the panda makes toward the exit. The panda produces a badly punctuated wildlife manual and tosses it over his shoulder.

"I'm a panda," he says at the door. "Look it up."

The waiter turns to the relevant entry and, sure enough, finds an explanation.

"Panda. Large black-and-white bear-like mammal, native to China. Eats, shoots and leaves."

First, the right wing apologists for the oil industry try to repackage greed as "success." Now that some people are not buying that bull****, they're trying to disparage the condemnation of that greed, er, success, on the basis of fairness. They say life's unfair. True, and history is full of examples of people fighting unfairness. There's nothing wrong with that, or does doing that make one a communist (ooooh, try to intimidate with the play the communist card)?

And just for good measure, throw in some little ditties - without links to back them up, of course - about how oil companies' revenue is in line with other industries and taxing the rich would be bad for the economy.

Sheesh.

sorry chuck, but that dog don't hunt.... I've only got 150 posts here, where as you have over 1800 although we've both been here since February... got math skills?

ya see, bourne... all a thinking person has to do is click on a poster's name and choose the check profile option, and then find all posts by, to see how often someone is here... you rarely leave... I'm rarely here...

I have concern for all vets, no matter which side of the fence they're on... and you should get out and away from the boards more...

You mean like they did in the 2000 election voting for Nader which allowed the worst president in history to win... like that?

Nope... until there is a viable third party, I will choose the lessor of two evils and vote out the republicans.

cmon, Birdz, you know as well as I, republicans don't use links to back their arguements up, they just call people names and hope that those folks will resort to the same tactics as they employ, so they can run crying from the board that the lefties are so unfair.

Only to return.

Yeah, Stripey, they can dish out the abuse, but get their panties in a wad when someone actually returns fire.

yeah, they'll usually claim they are going to leave either the thread or the board and then immediately fire right back when you laugh at them for running away crying... it's kind of pathetic when you think about it...

they truly do need to push away from the keyboard, get up and move around some.

but they won't...
