I agree, it's not something I approve of but as Justice Kennedy said. The constitution is about allowing things that we don't like, but allowing it because it is right. Or something of that manner.

I think that flag burning's a direct insult to this country, and while I might not like a lot of people in this country, or some of the people who run this country, I do like this country. I personally think that flag burning's uncalled for, but part of why I love this country is that we allow equality of freedom of speech and that we even extend it to citizens who hate this country.

There is no higher insult to freedom then the idea of mandated patriotism. It is Disrespectful to burn the flag, but oh well! We are a free society and the price of freedom is eternal vigilance and sacrifice. and you have to get over the fact you don't like it, and see that this falls in to that price. we cant overstep our bounds on this or any other thing because we are a free people and limiting that in any way is an affront to everything people have fought and died for. More so then burning a flag.

one last point. Like my grandma used to say. "They only do it because it bugs you"

I have always found the practice of flag burning - any country's flag - pretty juvenile. It usually harkens up images of radicals in the streets of places like the middle east, jumping up and down, screaming slogans and insults...usually to a camera. Once the camera is turned off they stop protesting. No kidding, that's what reporters have said time and time again.

Freedom of speech is more important to me however. So if they absolutely can't find any other way to express themselves, well, okay burn away. But frankly, if you want to protest, I think there are far better ways to express your views - a very protected and American Right.

But these people should at least stop to think about the men and women that have died on foreign soil, just so they could insult the Flag and make their point publically..

The purpose of a protest is to get noticed.

Flag burning is just wrong. And the argument that "it is a freedom of speech" is crap, I dont think that anybody can honestly say that our founding fathers intended flag burning to a form of speech that was to be protected. And, THAT is how the constution should be interpreted.

Constitution aside, it is very disrespectful. If somebody doesn't have enough respect for this country to not to do that, then there are some mighty fine neighbors to our north and south that i would be glad to ship them to.

Flag burning is definitely a right under freedom of speech (which encompasses freedom of expression).

Plus, burning is the proper, respectful way to dispose of an old, tattered flag. Throwing it away or something like that is not the proper way.

Like i said before, our founding fathers did not think that this was a freedom of speech and that is how the constitution should be interpreted. I dare say that if somebody in their day burned a flag in protest they would be promptly executed for treason.

Burning a flag as a method of "disposal" and burning a flag in protest are two different things. The former is done out of respect and the later is done out of SERIOUS DISrespect.

Bras dont represent this country, that piece of "cloth" does. What is even saddening about this is that some people consider that thing of beauty to be "just a piece of cloth"
