Just a basic question I wanted to ask everyone, in light of a peculiar debate I had with my brother last night. Is racism in any kind of form ever justified?

I know the poll is almost unanimously gonna be one answer but anyway....on with the discussion.

I can't think of any time it would be justified to think one race is superior over another.

Nor can I.

To think that one race is altogether "superior" than another would be stupid and a detriment to society, however, different races have different qualities which can and do make different races better at certain things. African Americans are naturally stronger than Asians, and African Americans naturally have a better tollerance to sunlight than Whites.

I would have to say no, just as I would say stupidity is never justified. If you dislike someone, or something they did or said, just leave it at that. You don't have to enlarge that into a racial slur.

Besides, the state of the art of DNA testing is that you can give someone a mouth swab and come back to tell you that you are a certain percentage African, Latino, Asian, European, etc... Most people are surprised that they will come up a specific percentage African. In that way, we are almost all African Americans here in the USA.

Then there are genetic studies tracing us all back to a common origin, the original African tribe. That was about 280,000 years ago. As the human species migrated, humans adapted to local conditions. Africans developed more Melatonin in the skin as a natural sun block. On the other hand, Nordic cultures developed blond hair, blue eyes and white skin.

Nope. You can't judge based on entire races.

Exactly. To think that a race is superior is idiotic, but it is reasonable to acknowledge differences between races. For example: blacks tend to be taller, Asians tend to be shorter. Asians are more likely to be lactose-intolerant than whites. That sort of thing.
