Show me where it said that you would not be able to opt out. Show me where it said all children would be held down and tagged.

The parent say should be if they want their student chipped.

I don't see why the parents need to give approval. Schools can legally do many things that invade the privacy of the students without parental approval. They are on school property. The schools can check their bags, sequester the equipment, monitor them in the halls, check their lockers, metal detect their bodies, detail without approval, etc.

Putting a chick in a name tag, id card, or on a bag is small change.

I know, I am saying that they should not. What is and what should be are not the same.

There is nothing, other than safety rules, that all students *have* to do which the parents cannot opt out of. If you are religiously against sex ed, you can apply for a waiver. If you do not wish to have your child seen at a clinic, you can opt out. If you do not wish to get vaccines for your kids, then you can opt out.

You are paranoid.

Yes, I do think it would be suggested. In fact, it's already being considered: CNN.com - Parents look to microchip children - September 3, 2002

Give me a break. This is right up there with the "We can't let gays marry because then people will marry goats" argument.
Well, I don't know about marrying goats but once you start letting the government have more power, the more power it will take.

"Why?" asks the confused waiter, as the panda makes toward the exit. The panda produces a badly punctuated wildlife manual and tosses it over his shoulder.

"I'm a panda," he says at the door. "Look it up."

The waiter turns to the relevant entry and, sure enough, finds an explanation.

"Panda. Large black-and-white bear-like mammal, native to China. Eats, shoots and leaves."

Seems rather odd. Because of its cost and limited use I doubt such programs will ever become widespread.

Parents in the UK may be considering it, but school systems are not.

These things have a way of taking on a life of their own.
