On the basis that this contraceptive medication is in prescription, and that according to what has been reached--that all prescriptions must be filled by law, equally and without personal interest--Ill give this arguement to the away team.

On the basis also that:
-Pharmacies have no obligation to carry or sell any non-prescription item
-Government does not have the right to interfere with what a private business sells except on the account of regulated/prescription medical and illegal products.

You have made a good arguement.

Pharmacies should be forced to sell and fulfill any legitimate, legal prescription medicine as a prerequisite for attaining their pharmacological license. It's their job. Leave their religious nonsense at the door or find a new job.

It's as simple as that. If they cannot because of some technical problem, they then should be forced to help the customer find a place which can fulfill the prescription.

"I'm a panda," he says at the door. "Look it up."

The waiter turns to the relevant entry and, sure enough, finds an explanation.

"Panda. Large black-and-white bear-like mammal, native to China. Eats, shoots and leaves."

If you are that religiously convicted, and feel so strongly that you are going to have a hard time fulfilling the duties of your job, I am confused as to why anyone would go through the time and expense of becoming a pharmacist, knowing full well that contraceptives are going to be a large part of that job. What, they don't cover that in pharamceutical school?

Kosher Jews don't typically get into the hog processing business, and then have some sort of indignant fit of conscience.

These pharmacists can't have things both ways.

They want to have their cake and eat it too. They want to have the job, get all the perks and benefits, but not have to do the actual job. They believe their sky faerie religion makes them exempt from their duties.
