Teens in other countries are not as affected by the allure of booze because they are raised around it. It is part of their day to day lives. Go out to lunch, have a beer, go to dinner have a beer. Their is not this demonic association around alcohol where the drinking age is lower. So it is no big deal to drink. But here in the states alcohol is shown in such a negative light of course kids want to do it.

It's far from a given that even 21 year olds are responsible and intelligent, but we have to put the age limit somewhere.

Only kids in that 18-21 age slot even care about this issue, anyway. By the time you're 21, having a drink is no big deal, (or at least it shouldn't be.)

Besides, if you actually wait until you are 21 to get burned out on idiotic drinking, you missed the whole point of being a teenager! Maybe that was just me.

That is pretty lenient. They give them so many chances like it's Kindergarden. IN some cases, drunken drivers get treated more leniently than people who smoke pot.

Teens in other countries aren't going out having wild parties (when they should be home with their parents) and seeing how much alcohol they can consume in one sitting and then trying to drive home.

I will give you this much: let's leave it to the parents to decide when their kids can drink instead of leaving it to the government.

"Why?" asks the confused waiter, as the panda makes toward the exit. The panda produces a badly punctuated wildlife manual and tosses it over his shoulder.

"I'm a panda," he says at the door. "Look it up."

The waiter turns to the relevant entry and, sure enough, finds an explanation.

"Panda. Large black-and-white bear-like mammal, native to China. Eats, shoots and leaves."

Why should the government legislate some arbitrary age? The parents should be the ones to decide if a minor can have a drink. Once a person is no longer a minor, it shouldn't be an issue. If they can fight and die for their country, let them drink!

The government "legislates" the age at which you turn into an adult, and you should be able to drink at that age. Nothing else is fair...
