#1: Can you prove that handguns are useful in self-defense?
My uncle is alive now because he has carried a pistol for many years.

#2: Hypothetical situation: no one has handguns, not even criminals, or everyone has them? You pick. Just pick a choice, don't worm out of it.
Everyone.

#3: Can you prove criminals would still have them?
Easily...they get all sorts of illegal guns now, it will still happen.

True--the later M-16's had no full-auto capability.

"Armor piercing" ammo is extremely rare, but a .30-06 deer rifle will puncture Level II (police) body armor. I guess no more deer rifles.
Heck, a .22-250 will punch through even a level III vest. A 7.62x39 (the AK-47 round) will go through most body armor--steel or lead core. The steel cores actually do LESS damage, because the lead disintegrates when it hits. (The steel-core ammo was only used because at the time, it was cheaper than lead.)

High explosive rounds are rare even in military armories, and aren't effective in most situations. You watch too much tv.
They've been around a long time (100+ years) but no, generally not effective.

Hollowpoints are less dangerous than full-metal jacket rounds (regular bullets) because they have a significantly reduced chance of exiting your target after impact. I guess you think bullets flying beyond the enemy and killing innocent people is ok. If you understood weaponry and wanted to reduce gun deaths, you'd MANDATE hollowpoints.
That's why the normal loads in my uncle's .454 Casull gun (and my wife's 9mm) are hollow-points.

Mag extensions generally exist to make weapons more easily handled (like subcompact pistols), and usually only add 1-3 rounds. Good job, protect the people.

Silencers reduce muzzle velocity and thus, make the ammunition less effective, so again, aren't dangerous.
They also can hurt accuracy, and some pistols won't cycle with the extra weight, needing the slide worked after every shot to chamber the next round.

The second amendment guarantees the right of the people to keep and bear arms, and that means ALL WEAPONS. Gun control is an abomination and a bigger threat to liberty than restriction of speech. I will gladly surrender my weapons to the government when they come to take them however, I'll just need to ensure they're empty first.....
Pretty much.

Most times however a hollowpoint will result in death (the desired result of shooting somebody), and so any information he has concerning injuries will be anecdotal and not a chronic condition.
I know which one does more damage but it seems that he is implying that HP's mangle and wound and are not used to kill more effectively.

He doesn't have any operational knowledge of firearms, what do you expect? I was just making sure you weren't being dishonest, and you weren't. You no doubt comprehend the topic at hand, I just hate it when my fellow second amendment enthusiasts mute their beliefs to make them more palatable.
