No, you did not. There was no "potentially", when we debated it. You said that way before you ever said potentially, which was just recently. If you insist I will go get the quotes to prove it. Racism is ignorance. Therefore anyone that is racist is ignorant to an extent.

I'm not sure about that. That implies that there is something a racist has to learn, which is vaguely condescending.

Considering racism has to be taught (some studies indicate that left on their own, children give little thought to racial differences), racists are probably not ignorant.

Many of the racists on this forum seem very well educated and knowledgeable, even citing scholarly sources to back their opinions.

We learn from our parents and from what our parents allowed us to be exposed to. The responsiblilty mainly lies with them, since they have a major role in helping us develop our morals and values. That is a given, unless you expect the state to do our jobs for us. But since racism comes in all shapes and sizes, it is easy to have differing views on what would be considered racist. Many people think that a racist joke is just that, a joke. They fail to see the damage it causes by continuing the cycle. Where do you start? The children seem to be the answer.

The children are partially the answer, but we've only said that for about 10 generations, now, haven't we?

I place a lot of the blame on tit-for-tat strategies of well-meaning, but ultimately heavy-handed policymaking, that tries to "make up for" history overnight.

Think of it this way: in a relatively short period of time, white males have had almost everything they've been taught turned on its head. Suddenly women are in the workplace, competing for jobs that used to be thought of as male. Other languages than English are getting traction in legislatures. Etc.

They've kind of had the rug pulled out from under them, and now what their Grandpa told them is now considered "wrong". I understand when I think how this becomes very threatening. Bigotry, homophobia, sexism, racism is very much a defensive point of view, as well. Many don't see this as elevating other people - they see it as lowering THEM. And nobody likes to be told what they "have" to think.

I'm NOT saying that minorities should shut up and quit trying to make changes. But, I think the relative speed and perhaps the tactics can certainly be seen as an attack of "traditional" values, and maybe the adjustments are simply too much, too fast, too soon for many people.

Believing something false is still ignorance. They can be very educated in many things, but yet they are still ignorant on the matter of race.

What was non-nonsensical in that? I know what you have said. You argued that racism is inherent and that everyone is a racist. Which means you admitted you are a racist, unless you somehow do not consider yourself to be part of everyone. It is simple.
