What are your views on the Patriot Act?
http://thomas.loc.gov/cgi-bin/bdquery/z?d107:h.r.03162: This is a pretty big deal for me personally. I do not agree with any aspect of this bill what so ever. It does absolutely nothing positive for this country. I will wait a bit to explain why I feel this way but I want the topic to get talked over a bit before I explain. |

Not quite, but almost.

unfortunately when the patriot act was voted on it was sudden and America was in a place that if anyone had really raised a fight on it it would have been political suicide. i think only one senator voted against it (Russ Fiengold). i really think this was not politician corruption it was a bad situation and they should have read it and taken a stand but i dont believe there was (for the most part) any plotting

Any law or act passed in the heat of fear will not be a good one. Reaction is a bad way to make policy. The Patriot act is like the sedition act only with much less reason.

It's unconstitutional and should be repealed immediately!

The panda produces a badly punctuated wildlife manual and tosses it over his shoulder. "I'm a panda," he says at the door. "Look it up." The waiter turns to the relevant entry and, sure enough, finds an explanation. "Panda. Large black-and-white bear-like mammal, native to China. Eats, shoots and leaves." |

The Patriot Act is clearly unconstitutional and the name of the act itself is a travesty.

Just like "Homeland Security." When have Americans ever referred to our country as "the homeland"? It sounds like something some fascist or socialist state would say - like "the Fatherland."
