Shouldn't it be our right not the governments? It is our own free will and we are not killing anyone who is unwilling, so what it the big deal about those who wish to do it?
Set aside religion because not all believe in that hocas pokas ;)

Suicide?
The easy way out, life is ****. I know this much but consider this... Ok, you'll be a free spirit but what do you leave and most important, hurt behind? (Family and friends!) Try Switzerland if you want to do it legally otherwise but I don't recommend it. Phil. (The voice of reason!) |

I guess if you succeed, the point is moot. Tried in absentia?
But if at first... 8-year sentence for fatal crash incites anger in courtroom Her attempt at taking her one life took three others and preserved hers. And she could walk in 18 months?

i am with you man. i have never had anyone comit suicide but i know that if someone close to me did like my brother or one of my parents i would be furious at them because they left us here to wonder what was the mater. i think that it is considered the easy way out when in reality it really isn't.

Sorry to hear about your friends Skywatch NC.
Have seen someone, and a very close friend of mine contemplate it. I gave him a smack on the jaw and ask him what the hell he was doing. It is pure selfishness and no consideration for those loved ones you leave behind. Ok, you are free of all of what you suffer... But what do you leave behind? Phil. |

there is a song by Randy Travis called three wooden crosses. suicide is not specificaly what the story in the song is about but it has a message that is very relivant. he says in it the "it not what you take with you when you leave this world behind. It you what leave behind when you go." a very good song and i just thought that it was relevant. there you go i am done.

While I see your point Lumara, isn't it a bit selfish to say that that person HAS to stay and suffer just so others will be happy. It is THEIR life and if they are not pyshically hurting someone, then an emotional bond is not enough to call an act "selfish".

"then an emotional bond is not enough to call an act 'selfish'."
you are right but more often then not an emotional bond when severed like that will turn into phisical pain for someone close to them. take a son that comits suicide. what happens to his mom if she was close to him. sure it is an emotion in the begining but it can become a physical hurt for her. she may even go as far as killing herself. then you have a dad that has no son and no wife. he will end up in the same place. and all because of a problem that the son thought couldn't be reconciled. so he tries the easy way out. thinking that HE wont have to deal with the problem anymore. And who says that he has to suffer. there are plenty of ways to figure things out and to get past hard times no matter what they are. i think it would be a better choise to stay and work through the suffering then to make others suffer. |
