Not if you want things, like to work, or the right to vote, or a large list of other things.

Ya, you can. Many jobs you do not need an ID. For other things you can use your birth certificate or other forms.

A birth certificate is a type of ID. Most jobs require two forms of ID (one from column B and one from C), unless you keep your passport on your person, than you only need one.

A clear example of what I said earlier about the "silly and misguided notion of feeling more 'secure.'"

We don't concider have an ID as a violation of our privacy (most of us at least). That's all they are doing, trying to get a better ID that can't be stolen as easily.
Well, keep on believing that the government is your friend and that its motives are pure.

Typical American sheeple!

"Why?" asks the confused waiter, as the panda makes toward the exit. The panda produces a badly punctuated wildlife manual and tosses it over his shoulder.

"I'm a panda," he says at the door. "Look it up."

The waiter turns to the relevant entry and, sure enough, finds an explanation.

"Panda. Large black-and-white bear-like mammal, native to China. Eats, shoots and leaves."

With that, you've said absolutely nothing of any value. If all you have to contribute is fallacies to this, than that speaks for itself.

The government has no right to collect that information. My moral position. If you are convicted of a crime, that's a different story.

If you read the article, it says that it only applies to criminals and thoughs that handle confidential material, like other people's social security numbers.

Please explain the phrase "thoughs that handle confidential material, like other people's social security numbers." What exactly are "thoughs"?

You really don't get it do you? It's a short step from applying this to criminals and people who handle other people's Social Security numbers (pretty much any employer, credit provider, government employee, etc.) to every American citizen.

Take your damned socialist ideas and go live in Europe!
