Err...isn't that what I just said?

Are you agreeing or disagreeing, aaron?

About that plan: The thing is--there's no way everyone's going to come out at once. I don't know what would have to be done to send everyone that kind of message to actually DO that. If we could get everyone to do that, it certainly would cause a change VERY quickly.

That would be remembered as one of the funniest moments of all history.

I know that it most likely would never happen, but boy if it did, I would be very pleased.

The only way it would be equal rights is if you stopped prohibiting heterosexuals from sharing sleeping and showering facilities with the sex to which they're attracted.

I agree with Ron Paul on this one. To quote him:

"We don't get our rights because we're gays or women or minorities. We get our rights from our creator as individuals. So every individual should be treated the same way...If there is homosexual behavior in the military that is disruptive, it should be dealt with. But if there's heterosexual sexual behavior that is disruptive, it should be dealt with."

"Why?" asks the confused waiter, as the panda makes toward the exit. The panda produces a badly punctuated wildlife manual and tosses it over his shoulder.

"I'm a panda," he says at the door. "Look it up."

The waiter turns to the relevant entry and, sure enough, finds an explanation.

"Panda. Large black-and-white bear-like mammal, native to China. Eats, shoots and leaves."

Start a website? Enlist the media? You'd be a great spokesperson...

There must be gay organisations. I mean, who organises all those gay pride parades and such. And there must organisations which look out for legal rights.

Mobilise...

It won't work and here's why: (actually, if everybody did, it could, but...) I've heard tell, NPR I believe it was, of gay soldiers coming out to their captains while deployed, being made to serve their full deployment, then being dishonorably discharged upon their return.

Now if isn't just sand paper on the asshole, I don't know what is.

It's a matter of principle. I'd rather have that on my papers than have it in my heart that I didn't stand up and fight for the right to be equal like everyone else and to have to go through life knowing I didn't have it in me to do that.

Your views on this are not constructive or positive, but they should be...

That last comment is ...yuck...btw...thanks for the mental image...

That assumes there actually are 65,000 gays in the military and that all of them will do it. What if there aren't as many as they estimate and you just end up with a bunch of destroyed careers? That plan is ignorant.
If you didn't like the DADT rules when you joined, why did you. And if you are truly a disciplined member of the Armed Forces, this "plan" goes against anything that could be considered "disciplined" IMHO.
