I agree. The feminists will stomp on me, but women are more sensitive at times. Tougher in other ways though.

The strongest of men is happy to completely ignore past history when tempted by competent feminine charms.
I understand that your comment is what you would like to believe, but it's a question of ego.
Maybe so, however that is a fairly large generalization you made. Some people have a stronger resolve than others. It has nothing to do with smiles or feminine charms, sure it works on a lot of guys and quite possibly myself a few times, however, that's not a question of chivalry, that's being manipulated. I can tell you for a fact that I've had to resist "feminine charms" many times and done so successfully. However, I'm sure there are a number of times in which I've completely failed to offset my resistance.

I don't understand how it's a question of ego. Are you referring to my ego or men's egos in general? If it's my ego that's in question, I can assure you that 80% of the time, it's not an issue. Especially because much of the work I do is via the internet (I work for the NRO) and one cannot determine the gender of the contracter on the other end of the computer unless it is voluntarily given or I know the person before hand.

If you are referring to men's ego's in general, I would have to believe that it depends on the circumstances of the situation at hand.

I won't stomp because it's true in general. The sexes are definitely wired differently.

Plus women don't find sex jokes funny (unless they're really cool)!

Chivalry claimed in our modern contemporary world is sexism in the worst way.

Is Chivalry really important? Hell I treat all people the same when it comes to my manners, whether you are a guy or a gal. Equal rights for all.

Why is it?

Everyone should be treated with respect and I understand the reasons for standing against male domination, sometimes chivalry might appear to be patronising or demeaning.

In context though, it's lovely to have a man be a little gallant.

Opening doors doesn't really count btw, I would never let a door go on anyone regardless of gender, not many people do.
