Default Population Control

Always good for a debate, population growth has become a hotter and hotter topic in first tier countries.
So, my question is:
Should the nation (or the world) do anything to control population growth?
and if so, how?

You know nothing about me, so don't draw conclusions.

I put the question out there because it comes up from time to time in politics. If you don't have an opinion on it, move on. But don't attack the poster, especially when I did not state a personal opinion. I just started the thread.

I was not talking about you, but the left in general, also I was not serious.

When you say, "you liberals like this", it is not unreasonable to get the implication that you were referring to the poster.

As for population control, probably not for now.

I think it's needed as the world will be overpopulated and not be able to sustain it's self.

What is everyone's opinion about what China is doing to control its population? One child per family unless they live in a rural area then it is two. I am going to China in May so will let you know what I find out about the subject.

I don't see how China could even keep tabs on ...let alone control how many kids that urban and rural families have.

I'm thinking, if every couple of 2 people have 2 children, the population will not grow, right? Of am I doing this math wrong?

2 children is relatively normal around where I live, and if you consider world-wide.....a lot of children don't survive, so 2 surviving children per couple would keep the population static.

do you realize that currently the entire population of the world could fit in the boundries of Jacksonville florida. the world is not even close to over populated. the only reason it seems that way is because you are looking at all of the really big cities in the world and yes places like New York city are very overpopulated. Now take Greenwood California. the place i grew up. there is a population of 1,360 some people. where the homes are more then 5 feet apart. there are places that are not overpopulated.
