Our country will have a new president sitting in the White House come January 2009. His full name is Barack Hussein Obama. With his promises of hope and change, I am very curious as to what his agenda will be in order to achieve this. What will he do the first week, the first month, or the first year. What do you think. And please, no need to harp on the past. Just a healthy outlook for the future is what's needed now. Change comes from within.
My prediction: I think that we will commit more troops in Afghanistan within the first 3 months of his presidency. I also think that he will send out stimulus packages around the same time.

Any suggestions on specifically what he will do in the next 4 years to bring about the change that he promised?

There is very little that the president can do himself. He can work with congress to try to get things done, but it is stupid to try to pin down specifics since when working with congress, the minor details get adjusted and tweeked in order to smooth it out and fix it up. The big picture may be, get a lot of troops out of Iraq and move some into Afghanistan and that only takes maybe an hour to get people to agree on, but then the fine details (which must be approved by congress) could take days, weeks, or months. So it is stupid to tell the people that you are going to do such and such fine details, until after you speak with congress.

I think once Obama gets briefed, some things may change.

Like what?
So far all I have heard are the predictable things that a new president would do. I would like to see more examples of this promised "change" that got him elected. How will Obama change things during his administration? I thought I would have a lot of response from the Obama voters in this forum, but it may be that this "change" buzzword was just a buzzword after all. I'd hate to think that Obama was elected only because of the disdain people have for Bush as well as the current state of affairs. Come on people, what do you think Obama has planned for his term?

Barack Obama and Joe Biden: The Change We Need | Policy Issues
All you have to do is look it up, go to the website to see a much better picture of his policies. The full plans for each issue are in .PDF files on each issue's section. I think we can expect an Obama administration to do all or some of what is in there.

Zepher, what do you think he will do during the first 6 months of office. What is the change you expect him to bring during his first year? It's a simple question that only askes for an opinion on what his supporters expect from him, based on his campaign promise of "change".
