I'm a Ron Paul fan, but I believe that even states lack the authority to regulate abortion, whereas he believes that authority is in fact a state issue. Otherwise, he'd have my vote if he had gotten the GOP nomination.

Ron Paul is the only Congressman I know who compares each piece of proposed legislation to the Constitution for legitimacy before voting. He is opposed to the expansion of government and wants it to be returned to its limits defined by the Constitution. He is pro-freedom and states' rights and opposed to the erosion of civil liberties caused by laws such as The Patriot Acts and FISA.

Ron Paul has a better grasp of economics than our other representatives and votes accordingly. He is a man of principle and not a corporate lackey like the majority of his peers in Congress. His campaign was like a breath of fresh air and united such diverse groups as libertarians and Christian fundamentalists. How many other politicians can say that?

Although I'm disappointed that he was prevented by the powers that be from getting anywhere with his bid for the presidency, I'm encouraged by the broad acceptance his message received and to know that the idea of liberty isn't completely dead. I don't think that genie can be put back in the bottle, and we have Ron Paul to thank for that.

Space Coyote, abortion is the only position that RP and I disagree on, so I would have voted for him if my vote would have been counted. I'm fervently pro-choice but I'm not a single-issue voter and he was spot on with the rest of his platform.

Defined by his opinion of what the constitution defines.

I get tired of hearing people talk about the constitution like its a construction manual that can be read without interpretation.
Everyone interprets the constitution based on there own beliefs.

He is 100% correct actually. The framers meant for all that is not specifically outlined in the Constitution was to be left up to the state...10th Amendment. It never should have made it to the Supreme Court. My conflict is that I am pro-life.

The articles of the Constitution are NOT open to interpretation. That is why the amending process was established. His opinion is not an issue. The fact that our government blatantly denies the existence of the Constitution is the issue. They do this constantly. If they want to make a major change they need to use the legislative process correctly and not make up the rules as they go along. That is his position. I know this first hand.

It was the economy that brought him to run for Congress in 1976 - leading to his first 10-12 years as a US Rep.
