The promotion of 'toxic radical policies' are not exclusive to Republicans. However, the GOP certainly has more than their fair share of hateful ideologues. What you see in the GOP leadership today is a coalition between the fundie christo-fascists and the neocon war mongers. The paleocon, constitutionalist and libertarian factions have been swept aside.

If you wish to watch their internal war play out, I would suggest that you keep an eye on Debra Medina's lawsuit in Texas. The neocons and christo-fascists cannot stay in power without violating the law.
