It looks like it, Merkley and the democrats have done a hell of a job attacking him like there was no tomorrow (well, for Merkley, there isn't if he loses). Smith had approval ratings of as high as 58% (30% disapproval) in 2007, compare that to the approval of most of congress and it is damn good. However, the merkley attacks caused it to drop to a bottom of 35% (57% disapproval), all in the last few months.
