Honey, I was alive during the Black Panters - they ran soup kitches, schools and daycare centers. Yeah, they had a radical wing - but they also did some good work in the community.

Say it loud - I'm black and I'm proud. That used to be a very radical statement. Now it's kinda inane.

I agree with the black militant groups because they are leftists like me. The white militant groups to which you refer to are invariably far-right; so I don't agree with them, no.

Hell, I'm not saying they were bad. My favorite rapper is Tupac, who, if you research him, was very influenced by the Panthers. I agree with some of their political philosophy and they did do good things for the poor inner-city black communities when they were around.
They were a militant group as well, though, which is the aspect I'm referring to.

This drives me batty.

How often people think that there were four terrorist in the BP and no one else.

Most Black panthers sat around with other groups and spoke about the issues. That includes white groups. They Handed out leaflets. Did community service.

Of course the crazy radical ones ended up being right. By "right" I mean their argument was Violence is the only way to be heard. As history has show they are the only ones that were.

It is sad. America seems to only respond to one thing. Only listen to the sound of violence. And it sets us up for more attacks.

The black Panthers By in large were good people in the 60's Angry for the way they were treated. And with good reason to be.

The fact that black America did not tear this country apart after being treated as second class citizens for so many years is a testament to their patience.
