Oh, this one is almost too good to be true.
It seems that the owner of a group contracted by the California Republican Party to register voters -- and who has been accused by Democrats of voter fraud in San Bernardino County -- was
arrested Saturday, October 18, 2008 in Ontario...for
voter fraud!! Authorities allege Mark Anthony Jacoby, 25, owner of Young Political Majors, registered to vote at a childhood California address where he no longer lives in order to satisfy a law requiring signature gatherers be eligible to vote in the state. Ontario police and state investigators arrested Jacoby at an Ontario hotel Saturday night. He faces four charges: two counts of voter registration fraud and two counts of perjury. Voter registration fraud carries a penalty of up to three years in prison.
In San Bernardino County recently, Democrats recently accused Jacoby's employees of
switching voters' registration to Republican against their will, a practice known as "slamming."
In recent weeks, a dozen voters said their party affiliation was switched, or they were coerced into becoming Republicans. At least one of those voter registration cards was turned in by one of Jacoby's employees. One voter said she believed she was signing a petition supporting tougher laws for child molesters. State Republicans this month accused the Democrats of interfering with their legal voter-registration efforts, sending a letter to the U.S. attorney in Los Angeles and a cease-and-desist letter to the San Bernardino County Democratic Party. While it is true that Jacoby's arrest does not stem from those specific charges, which are still under investigation, but the fact that Jacoby himself was fraudulently registered is, itself, clearly indicative of the sleazy game Republicans are playing here.
So, let's recap.
Number of Democrats arrested on voter registration fraud: 0
Number of Republicans arrested on voter registration fraud: 1
I think that just about says it all...don't you?? Yuk, yuk.
