I kinda wondered why he choked up at the debates - seemed like a long time to still be feeling so much. Now I understand. Bummer. Been through hospice with too many relatives to do anything but sympathize for anyone going through that.

Biden cancels events as mother-in-law battles illness

(CNN) — Democratic Vice Presidential nominee Joe Biden is cancelling his campaign events for Saturday and Sunday as his mother-in-law battles a serious illness.

The Senator from Delaware's campaign spokesman, David Wade, put out a statement saying "the campaign has cancelled Sen. Biden's schedule today and tomorrow because of a serious illness in Jill Biden's family. Hospice has advised the Bidens to remain close by, and we appreciate everyone's respect for the family's privacy."

Wade is referring to Biden's wife's mother, Bonnie Jacobs, who is in a hospice in Pennsylvania.

Biden was scheduled to speak in Washington D.C. and then attend a fund-raiser in the nation's capitol Saturday night. Sunday he was expected to campaign in Virginia.

I read his book when it came out. As a father I cannot for a moment believe that I would ever get over loosing a child. What a horrid thing to go through loosing a wife a child and not certain weather or not the other two kids would make it. With press lined up outside the hospital.

Why'd he choke up? Biden has a heart, unlike too many of our politicians, it seems. Seriously, though, he's always put family first, one reason why I've always liked Biden.

He also put all those Credit Card companies first as well, like MBNA. Which Ironically his son got a Senior VP spot after college. And people wonder why Biden voted for the Bankruptcy act of 2005.

He puts his family first, and leaves the American family in Bankruptcy in the lurch.

I hate Joe Biden's politics, but the man's character has never been in question for me. During a hotly contested campaign where (and let's be honest) his campaign NEEDS him out in public (he's simply better than Obama in well.....all respects), he's decided to cancel public appearances to handle family business.

ANYBODY who uses this for political gain is a hack. Affrayer you were already a tool, but Joe, I expected more from you.
