Who called Republicans Racist when they wanted to reform Fannie and Freddie in 2005? Who Threatened filibuster of the 2005 reform bill which passed the House and was stopped dead in the Senate? Answer: Maxine waters, Democrats and Chris Dodd.. McCain 2005 - Reform Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac Purple People Vote Here is McCain on the floor of the Senate in 2005 John Mccain May 25, 2005 from the Senate floor discussing the Federal Housing Enterprise Regulatory Reform Act of 2005 Mr. President, this week Fannie Mae’s regulator reported that the company’s quarterly reports of profit growth over the past few years were “illusions deliberately and systematically created” by the company’s senior management, which resulted in a $10.6 billion accounting scandal. The Office of Federal Housing Enterprise Oversight’s report goes on to say that Fannie Mae employees deliberately and intentionally manipulated financial reports to hit earnings targets in order to trigger bonuses for senior executives. In the case of Franklin Raines, Fannie Mae’s former chief executive officer, OFHEO’s report shows that over half of Mr. Raines’ compensation for the 6 years through 2003 was directly tied to meeting earnings targets. The report of financial misconduct at Fannie Mae echoes the deeply troubling $5 billion profit restatement at Freddie Mac. The OFHEO report also states that Fannie Mae used its political power to lobby Congress in an effort to interfere with the regulator’s examination of the company’s accounting problems. This report comes some weeks after Freddie Mac paid a record $3.8 million fine in a settlement with the Federal Election Commission and restated lobbying disclosure reports from 2004 to 2005. These are entities that have demonstrated over and over again that they are deeply in need of reform. For years I have been concerned about the regulatory structure that governs Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac–known as Government-sponsored entities or GSEs–and the sheer magnitude of these companies and the role they play in the housing market. OFHEO’s report this week does nothing to ease these concerns. In fact, the report does quite the contrary. OFHEO’s report solidifies my view that the GSEs need to be reformed without delay. I join as a cosponsor of the Federal Housing Enterprise Regulatory Reform Act of 2005, S. 190, to underscore my support for quick passage of GSE regulatory reform legislation. If Congress does not act, American taxpayers will continue to be exposed to the enormous risk that Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac pose to the housing market, the overall financial system, and the economy as a whole." DEMOCRATS created and caused this whole Scandal and are LYING ABOUT IT TODAY |

Because they have a chance of winning in our winner take all system. Yeah, it sucks, and fundamentally I'd be happier with a more parliamentary system made up of allied smaller parties. However, this is the system we have and these are the choices we have. The repubs didn't do a damn thing about this crisis for the past seven years, now all they are doing is pointing at who was in charge a decade ago and blaming them.
To me, that means the repubs are signaling they are either completely ineffective, or completely corrupt.

And you're stupid enough to keep voting for Democrats and Republicans knowing full well they're both to blame for the mess we're in!

A panda walks into a cafe. He orders a sandwich, eats it, then draws a gun and fires two shots in the air. "Why?" asks the confused waiter, as the panda makes toward the exit. The panda produces a badly punctuated wildlife manual and tosses it over his shoulder. "I'm a panda," he says at the door. "Look it up." The waiter turns to the relevant entry and, sure enough, finds an explanation. "Panda. Large black-and-white bear-like mammal, native to China. Eats, shoots and leaves." |

Ron Paul was in the republican debates at the beginning. If he had a significant following he would have continued in the public eye. If he had won the majority he would be in the shoes of McCain right now, but he didn't. He had a 2% following and he dropped out just like Huckabee, Romney and Guiliani. How come we are not out supporting them? Because they lost in the first round just like Paul and the other 3rd party candidates. If a third party candidate really makes sense (as Perot once did) they will be on the ballot and be a contender. When the third party candidates are a bunch of whackjobs like Barr and Baldwin they naturally become obscure. |
