Guess what, I have a child out of wedlock and still am not married. Members of my own family have told me it was disapointing and I was not being responsible. So its a two way street, do not try and tell me that its a minority only problem.

I cannot speak for Limbaugh or Hannity, but in my opinion it is a private matter. Their is no reason to be throwing children onto the stage and using them as a political talking point. You could be black, brown, green, blue or even Evil White and I would still say its private.
Not everything is the white man's fault. That's not what this article says.

The article is asking you to think about how things might be with the tables turned.

Try it.

Just imagine Limbaugh and Hannity and the rest, would they be treating the Obama daughter with as much respect?
As lumara said it is about spin not race. The only difference if Obama had the daughter would be the Democrats claiming privacy and the repubs attacking. Nothing to do with race, I don't know why people just always try to make everything about race.

Lumara nailed this one.

You should read it.

You obviously have not done so. Until you do, kindly keep your repeated Lumara accolades to yourself. Come back when you have something to add to the discussion.

That is the crux of the issue. We can what if everything to death. Jumping down someones throat because of something that COULD happen is stupid. I tend to pass judment on real action as apposed to speculation. Yes I know that there are still forms of racial oppresion but the article you posted does not come off as an article raising awarness in regards to racial tensions. It comes out as, "The white people hate the black people so the white people are the problem" That is my issue. I have no problem with thinking outside of the box but this was a horrible article to try and get you to do that.

On the other hand, are you denying that race is an issue in America?

Really?

I don't think so. I think that it makes you think about the reactions of people if the tables were turned. How about the issue of the pastors?

Quote:
White privilege is being able to attend churches over the years whose pastors say that people who voted for John Kerry or merely criticize George W. Bush are going to hell, and that the United States is an explicitly Christian nation and the job of Christians is to bring Christian theological principles into government, and who bring in speakers who say the conflict in the Middle East is God's punishment on Jews for rejecting Jesus, and everyone can still think you're just a good churchgoing Christian, but if you're black and friends with a black pastor who has noted (as have Colin Powell and the U.S. Department of Defense) that terrorist attacks are often the result of U.S. foreign policy and who talks about the history of racism and its effect on black people, you're an extremist who probably hates America.
Why is there no outrage, as there was for Wright's rhetoric, about what the white pastors have said? Palin's and McCain's pastors have said wild outrageous things. But only Wright was played over and over and over for weeks.

I think a big part of it is that most Americans expect White pastors to be crazy nutball racists. Its expected more or less. A lot of people assume if your from the South there is a good chance you are a racist.

Now part of the outcry that came from Wright stemed from the fact that Obama is about acceptance and such. And someone he has exposed himself to for the past 20 years goes against that. Creating a sense of doubt that Obama is being honest in his speaches.

Like I said, I am not denying that their are racial issues in our country but you cannot say that all of these problems are based on skin color.

White privilege is being able to be a gun enthusiast and not make people immediately scared of you. White privilege is being able to have a husband who was a member of an extremist political party that wants your state to secede from the Union, and whose motto was "Alaska first," and no one questions your patriotism or that of your family, while if you're black and your spouse merely fails to come to a 9/11 memorial so she can be home with her kids on the first day of school, people immediately think she's being disrespectful.
How about that one?

What if Obama's wife was a member of a successionist party? And if McCain's wife didn't go to the 9/11 memorial because she stayed home with the kids?

Would the outcome have been different?
